Mayor Suzuki visits St. Paul
Shiro Suzuki was elected mayor of Nagasaki in 2023 and this is his first visit to the sister city of St. Paul. His grandfather was mayor of Nagasaki in the 1950s when St. Paul and Nagasaki became sister cities. His grandfather's visit to St. Paul included a trip to the State Fair, and Suzuki-san wants to repeat that experience. Working with the St. Paul Rotary, we have arranged for him to be in the State Fair parade on Sunday, August 24, at 2 pm.
Mayor Suzuki and the delegation of city council members, Japan America Society of Nagasaki, Rotary members and others will join Mayor Suzuki and the SPNSCC and Rotary members at a variety of events--a welcome dinner on Thursday, August 21, courtesy visit to St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter at City Hall and tours of the State Capitol and St. Paul Cathedral on Friday, August 22, with an evening at the Saint Paul Saints' baseball game, Saturday morning program at the History Center, celebration dinner at Como Park on Saturday evening, and the State Fair on Sunday. Contact spnscc AT gmail DOT com for specific information about each event.
