June 23 to July 1 Saint Paul Civic Symphony Performs in Nagasaki

The Saint Paul Civic Symphony, under the direction of Jeff Stirling, is bringing twenty musicians and their families to Nagasaki to perform with the Nagasaki Symphony Orchestra, their sister orchestra. The program at Brick Hall on Saturday, June 29, will include the Nagasaki premiere of Steven Heitzig's Green Hope After Black Rain,. The SPCS commissioned this piece which recalls the Manzanar Internment Camp, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki as its three movements.  The piece incorporates nature sounds and origami peace cranes.  In addition, they will perform other selections separately and together.  The concert will be livestreamed! The group will also play for students at Nanzan Elementary School.
